Course Description
Study and practice of Shakespearean acting styles. Performance emphasizing manners, movement, and vocal delivery of the Elizabethan period. Prerequisite: THR 332; B.F.A. Acting Majors, B.F.A. Musical Theatre Majors only.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Create compelling and textually supported Shakespearean performances.
- Analyze Shakespearean language to inform vocal, physical, and interpretive choices.
- Evaluate the relationship between verse structure, rhetoric, and character intention.
- Synthesize historical context, vocal technique, and physical expression into fully realized Shakespearean characters.

Attendance/Participation:
Regular attendance is essential to your growth in this course, as much of our work is collaborative, experiential, and cannot be fully replicated outside of class.
Students may miss up to three (3) class meetings during the semester without any impact on their final grade. You are not required to provide a reason for these absences.
Beginning with the fourth absence, 50 points will be deducted from your final course grade for each additional absence.
If you arrive after class has begun, enter quietly and join the current activity without disrupting the class. It is your responsibility to check in with the instructor after class to ensure your attendance has been recorded correctly.
Students who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start of class will be recorded as absent for that class meeting.
Two (2) instances of arriving late (less than 15 minutes after the start of class) are equivalent to one (1) absence.
