Variable Topics in Theatrical Design

Course Description

An intensive study of practices in design for the performing arts. Topics vary each semester. Prerequisite: THR 242 or THR 244 or THR 246 or THR 262 or permission of instructor; Note: May be repeated once for credit when topic varies.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Program and install complex QLab-controlled systems to play content from other computers, iPads, and iPhones.
  • Generate and edit MIDI instruments and virtual content in a Digital Audio Workstation.
  • Create complex digital systems and playback opportunities for large-scale musicals and productions in non-proscenium theatres on specific deadlines utilizing multiple speakers and networking

Attendance/Participation:

Attendance is central to success in this course. You are allowed one excused absence to use at your discretion. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will be marked absent. Please discuss any anticipated scheduling conflicts with the instructors at the beginning of the semester, as each unexcused absence beyond the one allotted will impact your grade.
