Course Description
An introduction to materials and methods for theatre properties. These may include upholstery, vacuum forming, food crafts, painting, furniture construction & repair. Prerequisite: THR 140/THR 140L or permission of instructor; Note: May be repeated once for credit.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Gain/reinforce skills in dramaturgical research as it relates to period accuracy of Props and Dressings for plays
- Gain/reinforce skills in communicating research regarding period appropriate choices to designers and directors
- Gain/reinforce skills in generating relevant paperwork to a Properties Artisan/designer for a production.
- Gain/reinforce skills that are commonly used in a properties shop when creating or modifying items for a production.

Attendance/Participation:
All students are expected to attend all class sessions.
Tardy: Students who arrive after the start of class will be marked as tardy. If you’re more than 15 minutes late for class, you will be marked as absent. If a student is marked tardy 3 times, it will count as an absence.
Absences: You will receive leniency for your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd absences. Your 4th, 5th, and 6th absence will result in dropped letter grades. Your 7th absence will result in your dismissal from the class.
Work Days: This course uses in-class work days to give students the opportunity to work on their assignments during class hours. Students are expected to attend all work days and work on their projects. Aside from giving students classroom resources, this gives instructors the opportunity to guide students while the work is happening.

No textbook needs to be purchased for this course.
Each project has a budget that is expected to be funded by the participating student. The combined total of the financial responsibility will not exceed $165.
