Course Description
Study of basic principles of vocal production for Musical Theatre repertoire, to include acquaintance with appropriate style, song choice, and performance. Prerequisite: Open to all Theatre Majors (BA, BFA) and Music Theatre Minors.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Demonstrate performance skills by singing, from memory, three musical theatre solos for an audience.
- Explain and demonstrate good habits for singing practice, performance, preparation, and vocal health.
- Identify and demonstrate the various aspects of the singing process including breathing, phonation, resonance, articulation, and posture.
- Use newly developed skills to appreciate and critique vocal performances and an audience member

Attendance/Participation:
You may have up to three unexcused absences during the semester. Any more than that will result in your grade being lowered.
Two tardies will result in an unexcused absence.
Missing a performance will result in a zero on the assignment.
This class is performance-based, which requires attendance and participation to complete the necessary tasks to achieve outcomes.

Students are responsible for purchasing all materials (necessary sheet music and accompaniment) associated with the course.
