Technical Production: Wigs, Hair and Makeup

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

• Demonstrate intermediate level styling and application techniques most commonly used in live performance and media

• Interpret costume, hair and makeup designs and translate them in a physical representation of a designer’s creative vision

• Engage in solution-based discussions with both designers and performers regarding hair equity and personal versus character identities

• Identify the most effective tools and products for accomplishing hair and makeup related design elements

• Create historically accurate hair and makeup stylings based on appropriate research and character analysis

Attendance/Participation:

You have 3 excused absences. No questions asked, no excuses needed. Once you miss more than your allotted 3 classes, your grade may be dropped one full letter grade. If your attendance drops below 70% by Midterm, you may be withdrawn from the class with a WF (withdraw fail).  I encourage you to meet with me before you are withdrawn from the class. If your attendance is still below 70% by the end of the semester, that is grounds for an automatic F. If you will have difficulty meeting these standards, please contact me, the Dean of Students Office and/or OARS to help you set up academic accommodations.

Late attendance will be counted as 50% of an absence.
