Course Description
Systems for analyzing playscripts which may be adapted and employed by directors, actors, and/or designers. Prerequisite: DRAM major or School of Theatre minor or permission of instructor.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Identify vocabulary and techniques for analyzing a playscript in preparation for production.
- Analyze a variety of plays written in different styles, genres and historical eras.
- Recognize how playscript analysis differs for actors, designers, or directors.
- Demonstrate proficiency with playscript analysis through written analyses of texts and productions as well as creative projects.

Active participation and discuss is key to being successful in this course. Missing classes may lower your understanding of the material being presented.
Full attendance and participation are expected. Every absence will lower your attendance grade taken in Canvas. If you are sick and bring a doctor’s note to class when you return, your absence will be excused. You will be excused for department related activities (run crew and performance in shows) with a letter from your director. Be on time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late and find the door closed, you have missed class and will be counted absent.
