Course Description
Supervised in-school clinical experience. Required full-time teaching. Prerequisite: Admission to M.Ed. or M.A.T. program or permission of department.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Display sensitivity to the background, needs, and expectations of multilingual populations.
Acquire fundamental knowledge needed to make program and classroom decisions about proficiency, placement, instruction, and instructional assessment.
Use effective instructional practices and procedures in English as an additional language development.
Evaluate educational materials and resources of various educational publishers.
Understand the role of cognitive, contextual and affective factors that influence language development.
Develop a compendium of instructional practices and procedures, supported by national standards and the professional literature, that foster optimal language development for English learners.

Attendance/Participation:
Seminar: Attendance and active participation in all synchronous virtual class meetings are expected. Students should come prepared with working camera and microphone and may use a virtual background to support access from various environments.
Field Experience: Candidates will submit evidence of their participation in field work. Initial licensure candidates will submit their attendance log which must be signed by the cooperating teacher. Residency licensure candidates will submit documentation of weekly engagement in professional duties via a schedule including evidence of planning and instruction.
