Opportunity for students to study in depth topic of special interest. JMSW students only or with permission of instructor. Course may be repeated for a maximum of 6 credit hours.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Examine the biopsychosocial, cultural, and systemic dimensions of substance use and recovery, and identify evidence-based approaches for prevention, assessment, intervention, and recovery support.
- Critically assess and apply emerging and innovative approaches to addiction treatment and recovery support, demonstrating the ability to adapt interventions to meet the needs of diverse populations and practice settings.

Attendance/Participation:
Consistent participation is a requirement for success in this online course.
Students who do not submit any online assignments for three or more consecutive modules may automatically be withdrawn from the course or assigned a grade of âFâ regardless of work submitted prior to that point.
Students who experience unusual circumstances that may impact their participation (e.g., serious illness) should contact the instructor as soon as possible.
