Course Description
This course is designed to provide current and future health and human services professionals with opportunities to practice professional norms and ethics and interpret in simulated scenarios involving a healthcare provider, a Limited English-proficient patient whose first language is Spanish, and an English-Spanish interpreter. Prerequisite: SPA 303 and SPA 304.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

- Perform interpretation tasks at a beginner-professional level
- Explain U.S. healthcare policies and regulations
- Apply ethical standards in healthcare interpretation
- Navigate interpreter roles appropriately in clinical contexts
- Interact professionally and empathetically with patients and providers

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance is mandatory. Students are expected to participate actively in interpreting simulations and class activities. Absences may impact the participation grade, and consistent engagement is essential for success.
