Spanish Language and Cultures

Course Description

An opportunity to increase proficiency in oral and written language skills while extending knowledge of Hispanic culture. A bridge course required for advanced work in all areas. Prerequisite: SPA 204 or departmental permission; Notes: Students cannot receive credit for both SPA 301 and SPA 302.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Communicate in Spanish with increased fluency and accuracy
  • Summarize, compare, and analyze information effectively
  • Describe cultures and countries of the Spanish-speaking world
  • Use advanced grammar structures such as the subjunctive
  • Apply Spanish grammar accurately in context
  • Differentiate registers and use appropriate vocabulary
  • Develop and present a cultural project

Attendance/Participation:

Regular attendance, preparation, and active participation are essential. Students are expected to attend consistently, participate in Spanish during class, and be prepared for all activities. Participation is graded daily based on effort, preparation, and engagement.
