Course Description

Introduction to the history, reading, and practice of social theory, with a focus on post-war texts. Prerequisite: SOC 290.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify and explain major sociological concepts from post-classical theorists
  • Critically analyze and evaluate social theories in terms of their appropriateness for answering empirical questions and in comparison to one another
  • Formulate theoretical questions and insights about the contemporary social world and everyday life
