Course Description

Interaction between peoples of differing racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, with comparison of American relationships to those in other parts of the world.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Based on empirical information, describe, or explain individual behavior or social conditions, contexts, or institutions
  • Using the theories of the social and behavioral sciences, analyze individual behavior or social conditions, contexts of institutions
  • Present a more informed understanding of race and racial and ethnic issues in America.
  • Interpret, analyze, and evaluate writing and discourse related to race and ethnic relations.
  • Critically interrogate race and ethnic relations in terms of both their academic and non-academic lives.
  • Identify/demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of race and ethnic relations in the US.
