Issues and Trends in Special Education

Course Description

Provides graduate students with opportunities to explore current issues and trends in special education within the broader context of education, society, and history. Prerequisite: Admission to P.M.C. in Instructional Coaching and/or Ph.D. in Special Education or permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Describe the historical and philosophical roots of current issues and trends in the field of special education.
  • Critique the arguments of extant literature orally and in writing related to current issues and trends in the field of special education.
  • Synthesize literature related to the current issues and trends orally and in writing in the field of special education.
