Course Description
Content includes opportunities for students enrolled in a graduate program to develop a knowledge and understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and relevant Special Education legislation and litigation.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of historical foundations, legislation, and litigation
Analyze relevant legislation and litigation that impacts IEP development, implementation, and evaluation.
Apply procedural and substantive requirements to the IEP process.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of teaming
Explain IEP team membership and dynamics and how to facilitate engagement during IEP meetings.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the practical implementation of the IEP process and its components
Analyze IEP-related assessments used to develop Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFPs).
Complete IEP documents by formulating measurable annual goals, designing progress-monitoring plans, and specifying services, supports, and placement.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues and future considerations
Analyze digital-age IEP practices, culturally responsive IEPs, advocacy, transition planning, and IEPs of the future.
