Principles of Supply Chain and Procurement Management

Course Description

Roles of distribution and materials management in operations. Topics include inventory and distribution management, procurement, purchasing, logistics and supply chain management. Appropriate software used to facilitate decision-making. Prerequisite: SCM 206 and ECO 250 or STA 108.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Exhibit through tests and case studies how multiple aspects of the supply chain can be analyzed and effective decisions can be used to provide savings opportunities, supply business needs, and reduce operational risks.
  • Understand the concepts of Procurement, Supply Chain and Financial decisions related to most industries.
  • Prepare for an understanding and know basic tenants of supply chain roles in procurement and the business functions and jobs related to this field.
  • Use financial decision making to exhibit the needs of accounting, management, finance, and other disciplines to support and utilize supply chain functions
