Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Discuss, understand, and critically analyze recent historical trends in academic writing and publishing, complex ethical, institutional, and economic issues faced in the modern world of scholarly publishing, and opportunities and pitfalls associated with emerging open-science practices.
Develop a consistent writing practice and apply it to the development and/or completion of a scholarly work intended for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
Demonstrate professional public speaking skills in the context of one’s research program.
