Major concepts in administration of public bureaucracies, including comparative administration, organization theory, budgeting, public personnel, and decision-making.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Understand the theory and practice of American public administration.
  • Develop knowledge of foundational concepts from the fields of strategic management, communication, and public budgeting.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of public managers.
  • Develop knowledge of career pathways in federal, state, and local public service..
  • Communicate in writing core debates, issues, and concepts in public administration.
  • Analyze, summarize, and communicate succinctly in writing information on a variety of topics in public administration.
