Contemporary Moral Problems

Course Description

Philosophical readings and discussion of such current topics as abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, censorship, sexual morality, affirmative action and preferential hiring, environmental ethics, population control, and the morality of war.

Attendance/Participation:

Students are required to complete all course materials. Missing assignments receive a 0. Written assignments, with response to a peer, must include the peer-response in order to receive credit. Assignments must be submitted on time, excepting illness, death, or other extraordinary circumstances. Extra credit in this course is in the form of attendance. Missing no more than 2 classes confers 5 extra points to a student’s grade.
