Course Description

Introduction to the interdisciplinary theory, research conflict analysis and intervention strategies which form the foundation of peace and conflict studies.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Evaluate major categories of conflict theory.
  • Analyze the application of various conflict theories to different areas of practice.
  • Examine the historical foundations of the field from a multidisciplinary perspective.
  • Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of different conflict theories.
  • Compare and contrast different methods of conflict transformation.

Attendance/Participation:

Regular class attendance is a responsibility and a privilege of university education. It is fundamental to the orderly acquisition of knowledge. Students should recognize the advantages of regular class attendance, accept it as a personal responsibility, and apprise themselves of the consequences of poor attendance.

In an asynchronous online course, what constitutes attendance is participation in groupwork, time spent in canvas reading course materials and time spent reading and participating in the discussion board.

Student-athletes must make prior arrangements in advance for any conflicts with their schedule and due dates for this course.
