Course Description

Mechanisms to improve health status and outcomes within populations, appraised and used to reverse negative social determinants of health. Examining population health, health equity, health promotion, disease prevention, and community-based interventions across the lifespan.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Analyze a population’s health and well-being practices for literacy, ethnicity, culture, employment, languages spoken, family structures and roles, and more.
  • Identify a population’s sub-groups and create strength-based interventional approaches to improve health status.
  • Examine community-based participatory strategies to advocate and give voice to population priorities improving health outcomes.
  • Investigate the role of policy-making agencies in population health promotion and maintenance.

Repeated unexcused absences or failure to notify the instructor may negatively impact your grade. Exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis for legitimate and documented reasons.
