Health Disparities and Outcomes

Course Description

Critical analysis of health disparities and outcomes. Differences in access, use, cost, and quality of health care services; causes of health disparities; and strategies to eliminate disparities. Prerequisite: NUR 781 or permission of instructor; Corequisite: NUR 704.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Assess the scope and characteristics of disparities in health using epidemiological data.
  • Analyze issues of access, use, cost, and quality of health care services in disparate populations.
  • Critically interpret data sources and measures of health disparities and social determinants of health.
  • Propose strategies to eliminate disparities.
  • Evaluate interventions and outcomes for disparate populations.
