Clinical Practicum in Nurse Anesthesia VII

Course Description

Focuses on the integration of basic, advanced, and complex nurse anesthesia practice necessary to effectively administer anesthesia for a diverse patient population in a variety of institutional settings. Prerequisite: NUR 774.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Engage in anesthesia nursing practice at an advanced level.
  • Apply knowledge, skills, and the inquiry process in the delivery of anesthesia nursing care.
  • Analyze policies and procedures in the operating room environment that affect anesthesia nursing care.
  • Apply knowledge of self, individual, family, and socio/cultural/economic groups to the practice of anesthesia nursing to include the influence of the person’s health status on the delivery of anesthesia nursing care.
  • Demonstrate the art of caring for self, individuals, families, and colleagues throughout the perioperative period.

Attendance/Participation:

Attendance in the clinical area is mandatory. Excused absences for illness and or emergencies may be arranged with the course director. All absences must be reported to the clinical course director via email. Students are expected to initiate a request for make–up time for the absence.

Participation is essential for your learning and success in this class.

· Planned Absences: If you know you will be absent, you are required to notify the instructor via email as soon as possible and before the scheduled date of absence.

· Extenuating Circumstances: In cases of emergencies or unforeseen circumstances that require your absence, please inform the instructor via email as soon as possible. Include details about the situation and, if appropriate, provide supporting documentation.

Repeated unexcused absences or failure to notify the instructor may negatively impact your grade. Exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis for legitimate and documented reasons.
