Course Description

Biomedical computer technologies to support clinical problem solving and decision-making are applied. Emphasis on emerging technologies/artificial intelligence is analyzed for its impact on quality care and moral/ethical ramifications.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify the computational power of current technologies in clinical practice and personalized medicine.

  • Analyze individual and population-based clinical data from databases to evaluate quality and safety outcomes.

  • Interpret cyber security and data corruption risk-to-benefit in technology usage through legal, moral/ethical, and privacy lenses.

  • Examine current and emerging uses of artificial intelligence in clinical practice.
