Course Description
Develops skills in comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of psychiatric and mental health disorders across the lifespan. It emphasizes diagnostic reasoning, case formulation, treatment planning, and understanding neuroanatomy and brain-behavior principles to manage behavioral health and psychiatric issues. Preparing students to address normal and abnormal behaviors across diverse populations. Prerequisite: Advanced health assessment or permission of instructor; Corequisite: NUR 676, NUR 678.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Synthesize comprehensive assessment data to accurately diagnose psychiatric, behavioral, and mental health disorders, considering developmental stages across the lifespan.
- Demonstrate advanced diagnostic reasoning by integrating neurobiological, psychosocial, and cultural factors to differentiate and confirm psychiatric conditions across diverse populations.
- Apply evidence-based diagnostic frameworks to develop and manage treatment plans for common behavioral health issues, psychiatric illnesses, and substance use disorders, ensuring culturally competent and patient-centered care.

Attendance/Participation:

Late submissions may also result in a reduction in the assignment grade.
