Introduction to the professional nurse's role in evidence-based practice and nursing research. Prerequisite: NUR 310, NUR 310L, NUR 320, NUR 320L, NUR 340, NUR 340L, NUR 360, NUR 360L; NURS major; Corequisite: NUR 410, NUR 410L, NUR 420, and NUR 420L.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Differentiate between the process of evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement.
- Discuss protection of human rights and ethical conduct in the research environment.
- Use skills of inquiry, appraisal, and information literacy to inform nursing practice.
- Differentiate various research designs as methods to answer clinical questions.
- Apply concepts of quality and safety to identify and improve patient outcomes.
- Explain how evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement supports best practices in the delivery of safe and effective nursing care.
