Course Description
A concentrated practicum where students simulate the roles of the employed graduate under the guidance of a selected nursing preceptor and a faculty facilitator. Prerequisite: NUR 310/NUR 310L, NUR 320/NUR 320L, NUR 340/NUR 340L, and NUR 360/NUR 360L; NURS major; Corequisite: NUR 415, NUR 430/NUR 430L, and NUR 490; Notes: Grade: Pass/Not Pass (P/NP). Students must provide own transportation to practicum experiences. Course intended for senior level baccalaureate nursing students in their final semester of the major.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Assume the roles of the professional nurse at a beginning level when providing quality and safe care in a variety of settings.
- Demonstrate awareness of self, and individuals, families, groups, and communities in their environment.
- Apply the concepts of environmental influence on the health of individuals, families, groups and communities to the delivery of nursing care.
- Demonstrate nursing concepts and skills as they apply to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
- Examine the wellness, illness, and disease and dysfunction components of health as they apply to selected individuals, families, groups, and communities.
- Integrate inquiry into nursing practice.
- Apply the art of caring in practice with individuals, families, groups, and communities.
- Practice as a nursing generalist in promoting the wellbeing of individuals, families, groups, and communities.

This course is graded Pass/Not Pass. The final grade reflects the student’s clinical performance, professional behaviors, and successful completion of all required course assignments, including the Capstone Reflection Project, Patient Care Assignments, Simulation/Lab participation, Descriptive Time Logs, Professional Development hours, and Preceptor Feedback

Attendance is a critical component of this course and is factored into your overall grade. Active participation is essential for your learning and success in this class.
Planned Absences:If you know you will be absent, you are required to notify the instructor via email as soon as possible and before the scheduled date of absence.
Extenuating Circumstances:In cases of emergencies or unforeseen circumstances that require your absence, please inform the instructor via email as soon as possible. Include details about the situation and, if appropriate, provide supporting documentation.
Repeated unexcused absences or failure to notify the instructor may negatively impact your grade. Exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis for legitimate and documented reasons.
