- Discuss interconnections among regions of the world, regarding cultural expectations for health and healthcare of diverse cultural populations. (GN 2)
- Locate, interpret, and evaluate information using diverse cultural frames and alternative perspectives to analyze healthcare issues on delivery of culturally competent nursing care to clients from diverse cultures. (GN 1, 3)
- Apply knowledge of cultural differences, one’s own personal biases that impact the healthcare of diverse cultural populations. (GN 1, 3)
- Explore social justice issues and environmental factors related to healthcare ethics, client self-determination, gender-role expectations in healthcare, healthcare technology, and access to care.
- Contrast cultural views of wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management and dying.

Attendance/Participation:
Regular class attendance is a responsibility and a privilege of university education. It is fundamental to the orderly acquisition of knowledge. Repeated unexcused absences or failure to notify the instructor may negatively impact your grade. Exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis for legitimate and documented reasons.
