Course Description

Practicum for nursing care of clients who have chronic physiological problems. Prerequisite: Overall minimum GPA of C; NURS major; Corequisite: NUR 320; Notes: Students must provide own transportation to practicum experiences.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Apply the nursing process to individualized plans of care for patients with chronic illness in acute care settings.

  • Create a culture of safe and quality nursing care within the patient care settings using principles of evidence-based practice.

  • Implement holistic, patient centered care that reflects an understanding of human growth and development, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and nursing management of the client in the patient care setting.

  • Demonstrate principles of professional nursing practice.

  • Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team.

Attendance/Participation:
