Course Description
Advanced study of choral conducting technique, gesture, and score preparation. Prerequisite: MUP 319; MUE 419; or permission of instructor; Note: May be repeated once for credit.
Syllabus
Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Analyze choral scores at an advanced level
- Mark choral scores based on harmonic and melodic phrases, form, and structure at an advanced level
- Execute a variety of patterns and gestures at an advanced level such as cueing and release gestures, fermatas, mixed meters, asymmetrical meters, gradual changes in tempo, dynamics, and articulation contrasts.
- Apply clear, efficient, and expressive conducting technique with and without a baton using both hands.
