Course Description

Applied instruction in music composition. Prerequisite: MUP 306 or permission of instructor; PRFM major with a composition concentration.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Complete compositions for a large-scale musical concert to last 50-75 minutes.
  • Demonstrate mature musical compositions featuring the synthesis of all foregoing instruction
  • Demonstrate originality of musical thought
  • Demonstrate a practical knowledge of Music Composition pedagogy
  • Demonstrate professional standards in terms of writing, notation, and presentation
