Opera Performance Techniques

Course Description

Techniques for the singer-actor; study of the materials and nature of music theatre; development of basic skills required in opera and/or music theatre. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor; Notes: May be repeated for credit.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

The student will develop skills in the various areas of the operatic discipline, including but not limited to body movement, acting, improvisation, role preparation, recitative study, publicity materials, artists’ management, Young Artist Programs, and audition techniques.

Attendance/Participation:

It is expected that students will be at all meetings and at any rehearsal for which they are called.  Because opera is an ensemble endeavor, your colleagues rely on your presence.
