Course Description
Class discussion, study and performance of literature for voice and/or instruments with keyboard accompaniment. Special attention given to sight reading techniques, German Lieder and Italian opera reductions.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Follow the solo line while playing the keyboard part
- Interpret the keyboard accompaniment as an ingredient of all parts
- Collaborate with a soloist in achieving a succesful performance
- Engage in active listening to other musicians
- Make a recording of the keyboard part for soloist’s practice purposes
- Have a general knowledge of German art songs
- Manage the practice time efficiently
- Improve the speed and accuracy of sight reading
- Prepare for the first rehearsal with a soloist
- Have an understanding of realizing the figured bass
- Recognize discrepancies in piano transcriptions compared to orchestral scores
- Use wide timbral color range to imitate orchestral instruments
- Do a word-by-word translation of song texts in foreign languages
