Course Description

Instruction on principal instrument or in voice. Prerequisite: Audition required; Notes: May be repeated for credit if different instrument or with approval of Department Chair; Enrollment for 2–3 credits requires coregistration in an ensemble.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Demonstrate skills in performance/audition preparation and artistic self-expression at a level appropriate for the particular music concentration.
  • Apply pedagogical concepts in the performance medium.
  • Offer, receive, and/or respond to feedback.
  • Express artistic/intellectual goals of their performances based on contextual knowledge, knowledge of self, and understanding of their intended audience.

Preparation and performance of brass jury 25%
Participation 50%
Attendance 25%

Attendance and Participation are graded components of this course.

Course Materials Purchased by the Students:

Students are required to purchase or acquire from the Music Library, or like resource, all assigned materials for performance/evaluation, and any equipment or accessories for performance required by the instructor.
