Study of basic principles of vocal production, to include acquaintance with a variety of solo literature and the development of poise and stage deportment. Notes: May be repeated for credit.

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance and Participation are graded components of this course. Vocal development relies on regular practice, peer observation, and active engagement during group instruction.
Students are permitted two unexcused absences over the course of the semester without penalty.
Each subsequent unexcused absence results in a 3% deduction from the overall Attendance/Participation score.
Arriving more than 10 minutes late counts as half an absence. Absences due to documented university events or medical emergencies will be excused if prior notice or official documentation is provided.
Course Materials Purchased by the Students:
This course requires a 3-ring binder, a pencil, and a way to write notes. Students are not required to purchase digital/sheet music presented for performance/evaluation. Use of electronic devices in place of the aforementioned materials to store and read music is permitted.
