Class activities and discussions will be based on the readings, and you are expected to be prepared. This means doing the required reading before classes so that discussion can be as meaningful as possible.

You are expected to attend all classes, as your regular attendance and participation enhances the learning of all. Please contact me if you know that you will miss more than one class for any reason.  I appreciate knowing why you miss a single class, but notification is not required. If you have an unusual situation that results in extended absence, please contact me so that I am aware of the situation and can make arrangements to meet your instructional needs. More than 1 absence from class may result in your grade being lowered one letter grade for each further absence.
