Course Description
Overview of teaching musical concepts within a developmentally appropriate P-5 U. S. general music curricular framework. Emphasizes theories of learning and development in relation to music. Prerequisite: Either MUE 111 or MUE 363 or MUE 364 or MUE 365 or MUE 366; or permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Understand what elementary general music teaching entails.
Understand how social, psychological, physical, developmental, and cultural factors affect how elementary-aged students learn.
Plan and execute developmentally appropriate and meaningful elementary general music learning experiences.
Assess elementary general music students’ learning.
Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and dispositions corresponding to the standards outlined by the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance and Participation are graded components of this course. Students must attend class each day and miss no more than two scheduled classes during the semester. All students' final grade will be penalized at a rate of +/- per absence upon a third absence.
