Emerging Technologies Studio

Course Description

A studio course where students will work with newer technologies to experiment with alternative forms of image-making and storytelling bridging technical innovation and experimentation with socially engaged content. Prerequisite: MST 314.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify and evaluate technical elements of works constructed using emerging technology
  • Analyze current themes conveyed in some of the emerging media genres
  • Synthesize contemporary themes and theory in collaboration and community engagement into tangible elements (a work of art).

Attendance/Participation:

The expectation is that students attend (every) class, be on time and be prepared for class. The class meets once a week, therefore 1 absence may occur during the term without penalty. After the 1st absence, a 5-point deduction (5% of the cumulative grade) per absence is the penalty.

Professionalism is required. Assigned work is BY OR BEFORE THE SPECIFIED TIME AND DATE. A letter grade will be dropped for every day that the work is late.

If you have a situation that results in extended absence, please contact the instructor to make arrangements.

Midterm grades will be posted by the end of the sixth week of the term to help students and advisors understand progress.
