Techniques and aesthetics of digital sound design for the moving image. Prerequisite: MST 271 or permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in recording, editing, and mixing digital audio for media applications.
- Analyze and critique the aesthetic and technical use of sound in media productions.
- Design and produce original sound projects that communicate meaning, mood, and narrative through audio.

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance is required and will be strictly enforced. Students are allowed two absences. A third absence results in a one-letter-grade reduction, each additional absence results in another letter-grade reduction, and a fifth absence may result in failure of the course.
Three tardies of 15 minutes or more equal one absence.
Course Materials Purchased by the Students:
Students should have headphones, SD memory cards, portable storage, and batteries for audio recording equipment as needed.
