Analysis of selected, significant motion pictures of the world's cinema, from the silent period to the present.

This course will be assessed on a traditional grading scale from A-F out of a total of 1000 points. Your grade will be based on the total points you earn according to the table below. Fractional scores will be rounded up or down to the nearest whole number (for example, 929.7 would be rounded up to an "A" at 930; 929.4 would be rounded down to an "A-" at 929).

Attendance/Participation:
This is an asynchronous online course and as such there is no requirement to attend any physical meeting. However, students are expected to log into the course regularly to engage with the course content.
The "Engagement Points" and "Critical Reading" assignments will be assessed in part based on whether the analytics of Canvas Studio and Perusall show that the student is actually engaging with the lesson videos and readings.
Students will need to hold themselves accountable to regularly making progress through the modules, which must be unlocked in order. Assignments cannot be completed until the associated module is unlocked.
Course Materials Purchased by the Students:
Students will be required to pay a $5 fee for access to Perusall in order to complete the critical reading assignments for the course. If a student is unable to afford this fee they should contact the professor to discuss a potential fee waiver.
