Business Policy and Strategy

Course Description

Capstone case course in top management policy and strategy determination. Students learn to integrate various business functions and to develop skills and judgment in solving problems of the organization as a total system in relation to its environment. Prerequisite: FIN 315; ISM 280; MGT 301, MGT 312; MKT 309, MKT 320; senior standing; major in ACCT, BADM, CYBE, CYMA, ECOS, ENTR, FINC, HURM, HTMT, INTB, ISSC, or MKTG.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Describe, analyze, explain, and apply strategy concepts and techniques to virtually any business organization.
  • Think logically about actual strategic situations that confront managers.
  • Take a strategic manager’s perspective on the resolution of significant business problems and issues to improve organizational performance.
  • Analyze and evaluate factors that influence the competitive behavior and performance of the firm.

Because this is an asynchronous course, there is no traditional attendance requirement. Students are expected to participate by completing all assignments. Due dates are listed in the Course Overview document and on Canvas. Students are responsible for meeting these deadlines. Participation and timely completion of course requirements will be reflected in each student's final course grade.
