Course Description

Principles of compensation and job evaluation. Multidisciplinary theories underlying pay systems design and implementation. Market surveys and their effects on pay systems. Prerequisite: MGT 313; Sophomore Standing; Pre-major or major in ACCT, BADM, CARS, CYBE, CYMA, ECON, ECOS, ENTR, FINC, HTMT, HURM, INTB, ISSC, or MKTG.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Understand the foundational concepts and theories of compensation and benefits management.
  • Analyze the role of compensation and benefits in attracting, motivating, and retaining employees.
  • Evaluate different types of compensation systems and their impact on employee behavior and performance.
  • Examine the design and administration of employee benefit programs.
  • Understand the legal and ethical considerations in compensation and benefits practices.
  • Explore contemporary issues and trends in compensation and benefits.
