Course Description

Selected topics in international business presented by visiting faculty. Topics are related to the expertise of the instructor. Prerequisite: Major in ACCT, BADM, CARS, CYBE, CYMA, ECON, ECOS, ENTR, FINC, HTMT, HURM, INTB, ISSC, or MKTG.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Analyze and critique current practices in international workforce planning, recruitment and selection, compensation, performance appraisal, and training and development, and identify the intercultural and cross-border factors that make these practices more complex than they first appear.
  • Evaluate how decision-making and team management operate within multinational teams and propose improved approaches for managing across cultures.
  • Analyze macro-level international business issues, including immigration policy, international trade and tariffs, job outsourcing, and regional economic integration, and evaluate their effects on organizations, workers, and policy.
  • Apply research, quantitative reasoning, and cost-benefit analysis, supported by effective and ethical use of AI tools, to develop professional, evidence-based recommendations for managers and policymakers operating in an international context.

This is an asynchronous, online course with no scheduled meeting times and no separate attendance or participation grade. A student's final grade is based entirely on the ten graded memo assignments listed above, submitted by their posted deadlines.
