Course Description

Introduction to the values associated with ethics and sustainability relative to leadership, from idea formulation through communication within various constituencies across organizational contexts and communication media. Prerequisite: Admitted to the M.B.A., P.B.C. in Business Foundations, or M.S. in International Business or permission of the Program Director.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Describe an informed definition of three terms: effective leadership, ethical development, and sustainable business.
  • Elaborate on the tenets of effective (written and verbal) communication.
  • Apply principles of effective leadership and models of ethics to contemporary organizations.
  • Differentiate between models of effective leadership, stage models of ethical development and perspectives on sustainability.
  • Evaluate the sustainability of an organization’s business model.

Possible Extra Credit: There is only one possibility for extra credit (only one) in this course. During the semester, we will form two memo-evaluation committees. You may send Dr. B an email expressing your interest in serving on a committee. If you are accepted to serve and serve well (contribute positively to the committee), you can earn up to two extra points (three extra points if you serve on both committees).
