Senior Seminar in Mathematics

Course Description

Reading, formally writing, giving oral presentations on topics in mathematics, including current mathematics literature. Prerequisite: Senior standing and mathematics or statistics major, or permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Summarize a concept or problem in advanced mathematics
  • Explain the reasoning involved in a concept or the solution of a problem in advanced mathematics
  • Speak in genres appropriate to the disciplines of the primary subject matter of the course
  • Write in genres appropriate to the disciplines of the primary subject matter of the course
