Course Description

This course covers a number of aspects of music librarianship, including music collections, reference, technology, and copyright.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify the skills necessary for Music Librarians and ways to attain these skills.
  • Recognize and evaluate materials and resources needed in a Music Library and understand how to acquire, organize, and use those materials.
  • Understand basics of music technology needed by Music Librarians.
  • Identify unique aspects of Music Librarianship as they relate to common librarian responsibilities, including information literacy, collection development, and cataloging.
  • Evaluate theories of Music Librarianship and how they apply to practical situations.
