Course Description

Media and technology applications in libraries and information agencies. Develops competencies in designing, developing and producing, and presenting media and technology.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Select, use, and evaluate various types of media and technology
  • Apply design principles in the production of various forms of educational media
  • Produce products that meet student learning styles, physical, and intellectual abilities and needs
  • Create products suitable for use in group, class, and individual instruction
  • Demonstrate ability to design and adapt relevant learning experiences that engage students in authentic learning through the use of digital tools and resources
  • Utilize technology to develop plans for the advocacy of information programs, resources, and services

Course Grading Information:

Activity/Performance Measure Percentage/Points
Infographic: Students will create an original infographic focusing on data, information, or instructions related to libraries. 10%
Public Service Announcement Video: Students will create a short promotional video that communicates information about a selected professional topic. 10%
Technology Policy Review: Students will analyze and review the technology policy of a library of their choice. 10%
Digital Curation: Students will build a collection of resources related to a topic and/or question that utilizes a self-selected digital curation tool. The tool will be analyzed and shared. 25%
Technology Professional Development Workshop: Students will develop a professional development plan for a workshop or training session in the area of technology. 25%
Participation/Professionalism: Students are expected to actively participate in class by contributing to discussions, engaging in collaborative activities, coming prepared to share ideas and completing assigned activities during asynchronous. 20%
