Course Description

Storytelling and digital storytelling methods, techniques, and materials including literature and programming. Prerequisite: Admission to the MLIS degree program.

Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Understand the scope of the oral sharing of literature with users of all ages.
  • Become acquainted with the professional literature of storytelling.
  • Develop the skill of discernment in the selection of stories.
  • Understand and master the technique of storytelling.
  • Build a small repertoire of tales for telling.
  • Become acquainted with the body of literature associated with storytelling, e.g. folktales, fairy tales, legends, myths, along with modern literature such as picture books, poetry and holiday materials.

Attendance/Participation:

Attendance/participation is not a graded component included in the student's final grade for this course.
