Course Description
Prepares students to access, evaluate, and manage information to meet personal and academic needs. Focuses on personal information management, digital security/privacy, and ethical issues, including plagiarism, source citation, and fair-use. Prerequisite: Must have fewer than 60 credits to enroll or can enroll by Written Permission.

Attendance/Participation:
Class attendance--in this case either in person or via (asynchronous) recordings posted in Canvas Discussions--is not only mandatory but also is one of the best ways to ensure successful learning. Absences may be made up by viewing lecture recordings and completion of the questions posted in Canvas Discussions, whether you are taking the course entirely online or simply missed a lecture. Complete waiver of attendance will be provided only for significant reasons, including religious observances, illness, or bereavement, and MUST be documented.
Note: Attendance is tabulated in Canvas Gradebook cumulatively. Even single absences early in the course will significantly affect your attendance grade, but they will rise and even out with continued attendance of subsequent meetings. (For example, a missed class after only three class meetings, not counting participation activities, will result in a 66% attendance grade.)
Participation/Professionalism: Attendance and class participation including in-class quizzes/activities and peer-review workshop. 10% of final grade.
