Course Description

Integrative seminar focusing on major issues confronting the field of kinesiology, and applying concepts to professional practice and higher education. Note: Registration restricted to students enrolled in the Ed.D. in Kinesiology program.

Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Describe the historical development of kinesiology from the late 1890’s through current time.
  • Analyze differing views on issues and trends in kinesiology
  • Demonstrate understanding of the multidisciplinary content and perspectives in kinesiology
  • Demonstrate understanding of multiple forms of scholarship in kinesiology
  • Compare and contrast goals, content and scholarship in kinesiology EdD and PhD programs
  • Create a problem statement and rationale for professional research in kinesiology
  • Contribute information and insights to class discussion
  • Cooperate (demonstrate teamwork) in group assignments
