Detection and Correction on Functional Movement Patterns in the Physically Active Population

Course Description

The course addresses the detection and correction of functional movement patterns such as gait and throwing mechanics, and principles of basic strength and conditioning.

Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Students will be able to analyze abnormal gait patterns
  • Students will be able to analyze abnormal throwing patterns
  • Students will be able to design therapeutic interventions to address abnormal movement patterns

Attendance/Participation:

As this is an “part of term” course, students are only allowed to miss 1 class without penalty. Attendance will be maintained via Canvas. If students are experiencing a situation where multiple absences will occur they should contact the Dean of Students. The DOS will notify the instructor and accommodations may be made based on that. Only UNCG sponsored activities or religious observances will be excused. For MSAT students, clinical assignment travel may also be excused. Any other reason for missing class is considered unexcused. 2 tardies will result in 1 absence. Accumulation of 2 absences will result in a demotion of the final grade by 1 level (e.g. A to B+).
